Product Description
Developed in partnership with the Child Witness to Violence Project at Boston Medical Center, Safe Havens is a training workshop kit from the Mister Rogers Neighborhood staff designed to provide caregivers with the support they need to help children who have witnessed violence in their communities. The face of the prevalence of exposure to violence and the consequences of this exposure, many providers may be tempted to feel helpless and hopeless, mirroring the feelings of the children with whom work. However, it is crucial to remember that many children do make it in the face of adversity, that there are inherent strengths in families and communities that raise and nurture these children, and that there is much that we as caregivers of children can do to help children withstand the effects of exposure to violence. Trainer's manual contains workshop text, handout masters, video clips on DVD, and background material everything a trainer needs to present this intensive series of workshops. The workshops are interactive with video segments, activities, and large and small group discussion. Author: Elizabeth Nadas Seamans. Publisher: Family Communication Inc. Mixed Media.
